What's so great about a humbucker? And what is a Humbucker?

A humbucker is a type of pickup innovated by a company called Electro-voice in 1934 based in South Bend Indiana. A humbucker is a compound pickup created from two single coil pickups with each single coil pointing a separate magnetic pole towards the strings. This creates a magnetic phenomena that cancels out hum and interference. Therefore they "buck" the "hum". This is great for any distorted guitar genre ranging from classic rock to head banging metal. \,,/
